I'm Jennifer's Dad. I think I meant you once on a trip my wife and I made to England at Christmas time. Could you send me a copy of the article you refer to? [mfaigin@starpower.net] I will send it along to Jen. I have very fond memories of the times I spent with your Dad, particularly when he came to Jen's graduation in Rhode Island.

sorry for being a bit 'out' lately, been on a crazyness of work, I hope that soon we'll know about how the exhibitions and book projects are going, and of course don't hesitate to contact should you need any help or of course just to chat, your emails will always be welcome in my mailbox (oscar.reina(AT)gmail.com).
Greetings from an already quite summer-like Barcelonian night,
So sorry to hear about your loss. It's been many years, but I remember him very well. He was a colourful and remarkable character who subscribed to the "It's better to die on your feet than live on your knees" philosophy of life.

I hope all is well with you and Darrell - I have fond memories of those St. Andrews days!

I've been involved with classic cameras in the last years, and even though I'm now seriously considering making a digital step, I can't stand from enjoying a lot using these little wonderful machines.

In the field of MF folders, my personal favorite is the Iskra. A 6x6 Russian made folding camera with combined VF/RF and a great Tessar-type lens. A while ago I also acquired a really nice Bessa-I with a great performer Color Skopar 105/3.5.

That said, even the more simple 3-element designs can give surprisingly good results with such a big negative size.

Warm regards,
Thanks for your reply. We're sorting through dad's photos at present. As you can imagine, there's a lot of material. The plan is to keep Dad's work alive through his website, exhibitions and also, when time permits it to happen, the publication of a hefty book covering all themes of his photography and writing. It'll be quite an odyssey !
Keep in touch.
Cheers,
I'm lucky to own one of his books and have started a search for most of the material I can find as well.
I remember also some of our conversations regarding the Harrier ejection shot, and how he told it had been nominated for the image of the year, I think, will look at the email archive too.
As I said, I was lucky to know and to have had quite a prolific exchange of emails with your father. I first met him on an internet board about rangefinder cameras, which as you know he loved using.
Thanks also for making that article possible, I really loved reading it and it served me also to know about your father's story in the past.
Feel free to contact me whenever you like at skopar (at) gmail (dot) com.
I'm Robin's youn ger son (my elder brother Darrell lives in New Zealand). It was good to see your kind comments about my father and to read about your respect for, and friendship with him. The article was actually written by my broether and me, as a very personal tribute to our father. It was produced for a local magazine in La Herradure Spain, which subsequently published most of it. We sent Peter Russell a copy as a gesture, but he has copied almost all of it - and reproduced it in it's format with dad's amazing photos.
It would be good to keep in touch with you - perhaps you have heard some stories about our dad that we haven't heard yet - there's probably a million untold ones out there...

I've just found this blog entry performing a Google search looking for some information on Robin. As you, I was lucky to know him more than two years ago and greatly enjoyed the regular communication and thoughts exchange with him till his sad end last November, yet I didn'tknow that much about his military shooting days.

So I'm really glad to have found this entry and the link to the pdf document which I'm downloading now.

Thanks for making it possible.
